Blog Post #2: You know that new sound you were looking for?

Sound walking is relatively easy for me. I live in Brooklyn and it is relatively quiet in my neighborhood. Never too much traffic or too much noise. So, I love to take walks around the neighborhood, although I do listen to my music. But on the times where I am not listening to my music, I am hearing the surroundings around the area. The trees brushing through the wind or the car horns or honking. Naturally, I would do the same if I take the train especially if my battery for my Bluetooth earbuds run out of power.

Last week, I decided to sound walk and not wanting to listen to my music on my train ride home. My train ride from Hunter, depending on either taking the 6 or F train, is an hour. The perfect amount of time to sound walk from Hunter to my home in Brooklyn. Walking into the F train station and hearing the same automated messages, I was a bit more attentive to them with them boasting welcome messages to the people who got off.

The train ride itself was intriguing, to say the least. Listening to the train rolling along station via station while hearing the conductor making the station announcements was normal. However, now focused on not listening to my music allowed me to hear the beat coming from the train scrapping along the tracks. It was an odd sound that was similar hearing trains from the Old West. The train scrapping along the tracks sounded like a locomotive. It was a pleasant sound that I would love to incorporate somewhere.
